Bodybuilding Legends Show

Apr 29, 2019

Joe Means, one of the top amateur bodybuilders in the 1970's, is the guest this week on the Bodybuilding Legends Podcast. Joe talks about how he started bodybuilding as a teenager in South Carolina, competing at the national level in the top AAU Bodybuilding contests against top competitors such as Dave Johns, Kalman Szkalak, Manny Perry and Ron Teufel. Joe explains the diet and training program he followed that allowed him to defeat bigger bodybuilders who outweighed him by 30-40 pounds. Joe won the Most Muscular Award at the 1976 AAU Mr. America over Kal Szkalak, Dave Johns and Ron Teufel. He also won the Best Legs award that night over none other than Tom Platz. At the conclusion of the Podcast, John Hansen reads an article about Sergio Oliva that was written by Norman Zale and appeared in the November, 1975 issue of IronMan Magazine.
